Meet Janet Kuhnes...Janet’s interest and experience in the CAD industry all started in 1999 when she saw a commercial that briefly explained the development of a manufactured product and how the use of CAD software and 3D prototypes brought all aspects of the project together. She immediately enrolled in a two year CAD program at a local community college and dedicated herself to learning everything that she could about how to create technical drawings and 3D models. During the summer of 2000 she obtained an internship with Positech Corporation (a manufacturer of lifting equipment) where her skills and talents began to shine. With Janet’s capabilities and work ethic, Positech provided her with a workstation and software to work from home when she returned to college. In May of 2001 Janet graduated with a two year AS degree in CADD (Computer Aided Drafting / Design). Before her graduation, Janet was selected as the only SolidWorks expert from her class to compete in the Skills USA competitions where she took first place in the state of Iowa using SolidWorks. Janet has worked as a SolidWorks Mechanical Designer in a manufacturing atmosphere for over twelve years with knowledge of assemblies, weldments, welding symbols, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), sheetmetal and other mechanical processes. Therefore, when you get her started on your project you’ll see that you’ve found someone who can hit the ground running and never look back. Also she has worked with AutoCAD and SolidWorks for over twelve years and specializes in 3D modeling and mechanical drafting. While working as a contractor she experienced a large diversity of projects (some goverment related) all throughout the United States. Those projects included work on UAVs ( Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) known to most as drones. Other projects consisted of working with helicopters located at the PIF (Prototype Integration Facility) and armored military MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicles. Therefore, she understands the importance of ASME Y14.5 compliant drawings and is very capable of delivering accurate, high quality CAD drawings and 3D models. In her most recent contract she worked as a Senior Mechanical Designer in the Special Effects department for a World-renowned resort/amusement park. CAD Drafting Solutions is a home-based, privately-owned CAD drafting service established in 2007. She goes about business in an informal, down-to-earth method, so when you call, you will get the same English speaking person every time. She has served a wide variety of clientele and looks forward to tackling your next project. Besides working at her CAD drafting business, Janet also enjoys traveling with her family.
